Pop! Heroes! Justice League

Yet again, I was wrong. Pop! Heroes! are crazy cool.

I had thought that these things would be stupid and/or a sheer waste of my money; however, I was wrong!  I was actually thinking that they would make some great gifts.  I was hoping to do the entire Justice League with some other characters, but I can do it with these instead!  I'm only showing Batman, but go look at all of them.

Don't trust the pics either!  Go see them for yourself!

What a great gift for a certain brother who is turning 50 this year.

HE IS OLD!

You could even do the Avengers or JLA/Avengers!

Oh Yeah! - Medicom: Boba Fett

Have you already seen this? I saw it the other day and really got a kick out of it.

Distributor: Medicom Toys
Type Vinyl Collectible
Size 9.25"H
Price $99.99

Zimm's Two Cents
Not a statue but a really cool collectible toy. I sometimes wish that I was a true "Star Wars" fan or a "Trekkie", as I would have bought one of these items over the years, but alas, I am neither. I can't really explain or tell you which one is better.

That doesn't keep me from seeing some really cool collectible items, and this is one of them. I guess I really do enjoy the 'cartoon' styled characters - no matter the genre.

Robert's Two Cents
I'm definitely the Star Wars fan in my family. I like it. While it is a tooned version of Boba Fett, it's still true to the character. I especially like the battle damage on his armor. Good touch. My only qualm is I probably am not willing to spend $100 for a piece of this size or even $80, so I'll probably pass.

Junk for the Office: Runaway Mickey

and Julius Kubrick from Disney - a 2-pack action figure set.
Reaction: The only problem I have this is that someone is likely to take it. While you get a lot of comments and questions on where you got it, everyone would realize that they don't want to go to all of the trouble of ordering it.

And one night, they would simply disappear.

Are you willing to take the chance on losing $18.99 just to have these two characters on your desk?

Junk for the Office: Peter vs the Chicken

I am going to try and start another series of posts dedicated to junk you should consider for your office desk.

This isn't going to be stuff that I find on "Think Geek" - though they have some REALLY cool stuff.

Instead, this is stuff that I would want on my desk for some unknown reason or another. Something that I wouldn't mind losing or people playing with.

Or ... something that I would probably use to kill some work related time.

My first recommendation: Giant Chicken vs. Peter
Reason: The battles will wage on and on and hopefully through my next meeting.

Dungeonquest

For the last year, I have been reviewing, considering, and debating which RPG game I want to buy. Most of the time, I sadly realize that I have no one with which to play the game. At other times, I do not care.

I will find some new (or old) game either at the store or online, and then I spend a day or two researching and reading all about it. In a way, I make up for the lack of having any fellow gamers who would tolerate my learning curve or my creative questions that have nothing to do with the game.

Recently, I went so far as to buy three of the most recent DandD books - on clearance. They sit quietly on my shelf gathering dust. I figure the same thing will happen to Dungeonquest when I do buy it.

Honestly, I don't care.

A newer edition is coming out (Sept. 2010), and I loved the original. So.....here is to my purchasing Dugeonquest and never getting to play it.

Robert: Or I could lend you your favorite 6 year old niece to play it with you.... Just a thought. One of her other uncles was teaching her how to play World of Warcraft.

No Frackin Way! They did Iron Man too!

Robert's Two Cents: This is the best looking one actually so far. It may be a candidate for my 3 year old's room.

  • Yoda a bloodthirsty gargoyle
  • Stormtrooper Skeleton - I thought of a Zombie first. Click here to find out why.
  • Chewbacca Wolfman
How did this come to be? (Both you and I ask.)
  • Halloween
  • Bobble Head
  • Star Wars
Combine all 3 and you get the Star Wars Bobble Head Monster Mashups.

Knowing some Star War geeks personally, I figured that there are quite a few of these that will add these to their Halloween decorations.

What the....Kiss Mr. Potato Heads?

Oh - My - GOD!

Really? Reeeeeeaaaaalllyyyyy?

If I hadn't seen someone's collection of Mr. Potato Heads, I would have doubted the sanity behind these, but people will collect anything. Sadly, you could order them individually, if you want; however, I don't see the purpose behind that.

I think I am going to simply shake my head and call it a day on this one.

Wait. Wait a moment.

Look what else is out there - Iron Man: Tony Starch!

I'm done.

Doctor Who Levitating Spinning Tardis

Dr. Who! Ah. Dr. Who.

This is way too cool for me to own.

Too cool - and the fact that I would break it. I can see myself simply spinning, spinning, spinning ... until it flys off.

Pick it up. Look at the broken pieces. Put it back.

Spin, spin, spin. Flying. Shattering. Loss of $35.99 plus shipping and handling.

Why is it cool? It's Dr. Who! It Levitates! It spins!

I own the Tartus USB hub, which makes all sorts of noises, but this is different.

Also, I'm not quite certain if this fits my decor.

Available August 2009 for about $35.99.

Is it worth it? I mean, it is "Dr. Who."

What the....Elvis Potato Head

I wasn't certain if I should be offended, amazed or just shocked, but after walking by an individual's office the other day and seeing his entire potato head collection. I couldn't wait to tell someone about this.

As crazy as it might seem, there are people out there that will actually buy this thing.

Available: September 19
Price: 19.99.

Not Need a Plush Do I

Sometimes, things should just not exist. Then there are times that things should not talk to you.

Flashback: Teddy Ruxpin. I didn't have one; however, I do admit that it would have been fun to creep out both of my brothers.

I think this is one of those times.

Yoda 'plushy' phrases include:
  • 'When 900 years you reach, look as good you will not.'
  • 'For 800 years have I trained Jedi.'
  • 'Do, or do not. There is no try.'
  • 'Concentrate, feel the force flow, yes.'
  • 'Judge me by my size do you?'
  • 'Size matters not.'
With comments like that, Yoda might end up on my 'stress relief' pile.

Yours for $39.99 around July 2010.

Just be nice to him.

What the.....Marvel Capsules

I'm exhausted. Sorry about the lack of posts, but I am exhausted. In order to buy my toys, I have to work. In order to post, I need the time. Sadly, the work sometimes interferes with the post, which interferes with the fun.

Despite the exhaustion, I (of course) had the time and energy to read comics, a graphic novel, and flip through Previews. It was in the last one that I spotted these:

Who the hell's collecting these? Seriously! I've spotted an Iron Man statue that I don't want to admit to desiring, and yes, I did purchase the Uni-Formz DC Characters. (And yes, I am going to post something on the statue.)

But these??????

Bayard or Robert will probably like them.

Oh.....almost forgot. I need to follow-up on my Uni-Formz Flash order.

Robert: Not me. Now if the heads popped off and you could use them as marbles maybe. Those things are beyond ugly.

What the.....Blammoids Series 3

They just won't go away! No matter what you think - DC Direct keeps pushing these things out. I'm not exactly sure which one is really 'blammed out' this time. ('Blammed Out' - like it? I made it up.)

Anyway, this series consists of Two-Face, Cyborg, Wildcat, Robin, Catwoman, and Classic Batman. How Batman can be 'classic' as a Blammoid just does not make sense. I understand that it is his classic costume - but a Blammoid is just not classic.

Uni-Formz: Green Lantern - Blue Lantern

I'm actually enjoying this series; however, I don't remember them promoting a Blue Lantern? In fact, when I went back to look at Robert's post earlier this year, it was "Power Glow" figure.

Manufacturer DC Direct
Designed & Sculpted by Monster 5
Dimensions Over 8" tall
Articulation 12 Points
Type Vinyl Figure
Edition Size Limited Unknown
Release Date December 16, 2009
Retail Price $99.99

Zimm's Two Cents
I actually prefer the Blue Lantern over the Power Glow version. It fits with the recent 'Blackest Night' storyline; however, I would almost ask that they start putting out other ringed characters as well, which would take away from the 3-set pieces that they have been creating.

Recommendation: Great Buy.

Robert's Two Cents
I like it, but it's $100. There's lots better I can do with $100. Plus, is Hal a Blue Lantern now?

Recommendation: Neutral.

Kit Rae

Being a massive D&D fan, from the very early days of D&D, I have always admired the really cool swords, shields, and other fantasy items that I have seen at various conventions. But it was not until I saw Kit Rae's stuff did I actually purchase something. His stuff is nothing short of true art. At DragonCon 2009, I walked past his table 4 to 5 times, before I finally stopped to talk to him.

I wasn't there to talk. I was there to purchase something. I wanted the axe. It's beautiful. The Black Legion Battle Axe. Yes, I did purchase the black one, but I didn't stop there. I also purchased a throwing knife.

It was my first collectible sword (axe), and I even blathered on about it to both him and his wife. After all of these years, I finally found something worth purchasing. Something just too cool to pass up. I was there for statues, and I purchased a battle axe. Though I looked at them in the past, I never pictured myself purchasing one. Kit Rae changed all of that.

Why am I rambling on about this? Because now, I can purchase a foam sword. The first in a series of flexible foam swords. LARPA's should be drooling over this one, as it would be a fine weapon to carry into battle.

Estimated to Arrive
January 2010
Our Price: $39.99

As time permits, I will be showcasing some of his other work. If you are into throwing knives, check him out. If you are into fantasy, D&D, or collectible swords, check him out. If for no other reason then, you should check him out for the the talent and beauty of his work.

I have been wondering if I could get him to do a personal piece for me.

What were they thinking?

I'm not that much of a toy fan, or a toy collector, or a toy expert; however from time to time, I will post a toy that I think is rather cool or something that I would even consider collecting. Well there are those, and then there is this:
DC Direct really fell flat on this piece. Yeah, yeah. It is a perfect piece for all of you collector's who like to have one of everything. And as it is part of the DC Direct line of "History of the DC Universe," you would expect it.
But this? Really. REALLY? I guess you will like the other pieces that are coming out as well. Martian Manhunter, Captain Atom, and Kobra. Or as I like to say, "Toga Kobra".

Oh well, to each his own.

Imaginext Super Friends Batcave

Watching Nicktoons all weekend long is one of the best ways to stumble upon new and cool toys.

Labeled the DC Super Friends Batcave Super Set leaves a lot to be desired. I don't see the Super Friends; however, I do see Batman, Robin, Joker and Penguin. If they do add the Super Friends and other Villains into this series, this could eventually end up being one of the better DC hero sets to collect. The set includes some pretty awesome additions and is rather reasonably priced. Some of the things that caught my attention included:
  • Mr. Freeze's Freeze Chamber
  • Rather Awesome Batcave
  • Joker Van
To name a few.

I looked for the video to show how cool this set is, but for now, you will have to settle for a pic.

Uni-Formz: The Classic FLASH

Manufacturer DC Direct
Designed & Sculpted by Monster 5
Dimensions Over 8" tall
Articulation 12 Points
Edition Size Limited Unknown
Release Date May 2010
Retail Price ?????

I saw that this was 'just announced' by DC the other day, and I could hardly wait to post it. Every one of these Uni-Formz pieces are looking great, and I'm finally starting to realize that you could not only piece together the Justice League with these awesome pieces, but you could also form an 'Injustice League' of sorts - which from a kids perspective, totally rocks!

Three characters of the Flash Character's are available
  • The classic version of The Flash, dressed in his traditional red uniform;
  • The villain Zoom, dressed in his traditional yellow uniform; and
  • Black Flash, dressed, of course, in a black uniform.
For someone reason, these 3 seem more tempting then any of the other 3 Uni-Formz groupings of 3.

Recommendation remains a 'Buy', but as the series grows, I'm inching toward a Hot Buy. A DC Universe of these characters is going to look "AWESOME."

Robert's Two Cents: I love the Flash Uni-Formz. I agree with Zimm's suggestion of setting these up as a Justice League and an Injustice League. You could have real fun with that.

Points in Favor:
  • Sweet! This is the costume this type of format was made for.

Points Against:
  • While I like that they did the Flash, Reverse Flash, and Black Flash, isn't it a bit strange they'd do one of these for the speedster version of Death. I mean, that's what Black Flash is.
  • The Reverse Flash logo should have a black background.
  • Is that really the Black Flash or more like a Bizarro Flash?
  • One really, really minor nitpick. They used what was basically Wally's costume, but used the Barry era belt.
Recommendation: Buy. They're cool. The Flash costume was one that these types of sculpts was born for. Going back to the Green Lantern one, I wish they'd done a Sinestro.

What the.....Blammoids Series 2!

Okay, I admit it. I knew these were coming, but I still do not understand what they are for. The weird part of this set is that I actually like the characters in this set; however, some of the characters triangle underpants are really standing out. Anyway, Series 2.

Robert: Umm, no. I keep thinking I need to pick up one of these to be my urn one day.

The smile on the creeper reminds me from the plant from Little Shop of Horrors.

Plastic Man almost works.

Otherwise, I'm sticking with my first comment, umm, no.

Hong Kong Phooey Funko Force Action Figure

My partner loves the cartoon series, and it has NEVER been one of my favorites. However - since I have to hear about it all the time - I thought that I would at least post it for everyone. (Better this then the "The Lucy Show" release updates. Argh!)
In fact, there is a series of these for a decent price. I just saw a Captain Caveman too.

Robert's Two Cents: I was a huge fan of the cartoon when I was a kid. It was second only to the Super Friends. Keep in mind I was probably only 3 when I was watching it.

These are pretty cool.
