Junk for the Office: Runaway Mickey

and Julius Kubrick from Disney - a 2-pack action figure set.
Reaction: The only problem I have this is that someone is likely to take it. While you get a lot of comments and questions on where you got it, everyone would realize that they don't want to go to all of the trouble of ordering it.

And one night, they would simply disappear.

Are you willing to take the chance on losing $18.99 just to have these two characters on your desk?

Junk for the Office: Peter vs the Chicken

I am going to try and start another series of posts dedicated to junk you should consider for your office desk.

This isn't going to be stuff that I find on "Think Geek" - though they have some REALLY cool stuff.

Instead, this is stuff that I would want on my desk for some unknown reason or another. Something that I wouldn't mind losing or people playing with.

Or ... something that I would probably use to kill some work related time.

My first recommendation: Giant Chicken vs. Peter
Reason: The battles will wage on and on and hopefully through my next meeting.

Hong Kong Phooey Funko Force Action Figure

My partner loves the cartoon series, and it has NEVER been one of my favorites. However - since I have to hear about it all the time - I thought that I would at least post it for everyone. (Better this then the "The Lucy Show" release updates. Argh!)
In fact, there is a series of these for a decent price. I just saw a Captain Caveman too.

Robert's Two Cents: I was a huge fan of the cartoon when I was a kid. It was second only to the Super Friends. Keep in mind I was probably only 3 when I was watching it.

These are pretty cool.

Kree Mar-Vell Action Figure

I am not the action figure collector, so I can't give you all of the details, background, and interest associated with the toys. However, when I see a figure that jumps out at me, I have to say something. The primary thing that I like about this piece are the colors.

Wolverine Super Hero Squad Battle Pack Action Figures

I had to post this one, as it has several characters that I liked. They are: Havok, Beast (is okay), DeadPool, and Iceman.
Reg Price: $135.92
Sale Price: $115.99
Ship Date: May 2009
Robert: Several of these are repaints of previous releases, specifically: Logan, Sabretooth at least one of the Wolverines, and Beast. I'm not sure about the others. You can find 2, 3, and 4 packs of some of these pretty easily at your local big box store too.

I don't recall seeing the Havok before and, as Zimm said, he's very cool looking. One of the better Super Hero Squad characters released.

Semi-Spoiler: Blackest Night.

Maybe not really a spoiler - but some insight. After catching a glimpse of the most recent Blackest Night action figure, I have a clear understanding of where the story is headed.

Marvel is having such a hot run on its "Marvel Zombies" series - DC had to come up with their "Zombie Like" Superhero/Villains.

Enter "The Blackest Night".

I am still excited about the entire breakdown of corps, and I doubt that the Blackest Night will have as much flesh eating as the Marvel Zombies. BUT - we can definitely look toward a number of key heroes rising from the grave.

Who's next? Batman? Flash (a.ka. Kid Flash)?

What about some villains?

Robert: But at least he looks cool. Figured they were going somewhere like that with the recent high profile deaths in the DCU.

Blackest Night Action Figures

Type: Toys
Publisher: DC Comics
Release Date: September 30, 2009
Price: Depends on if You buy just one or the complete set

From someone who had no initial interest in the Blackest Night storyline and was incredibly turned off by the idea of having a universe of different colored rings flying around, this is turning into a Lantern story that I can enjoy.

For your first group you have:

Alpha Lantern Boodikka
Earth 2 Superman
Blue Lantern Saint Walker
Red Lantern Atrocitus

It started with the Sinestro Wars and has continued forth. I just hope that it can maintain the same pace throughout; however, for the short period of time, it has created some cool new characters.

Not a toy buyer myself - but you may want to look these over.

Robert: These are nice. Unfortunately Geoff Johns has lost me completely with his run. I'm not a fan of the Rainbow Corps, so I'm barely interested in the characters. The Blue Lantern character is interesting and vaguely reminiscent of the similar character shown as a throwaway character in Warren Ellis' Planetary. The black faced Boodika also interests me.

I'm curious why the Superman is "red acted". The only surprise I can think of is what color Lantern he may turn out to be. Personally, I think censoring characters in these previews is pretty tacky. Same thing with the Superboy Prime in the Crisis series. If showing the action figure would be too spoilerific, wait to release it. But that's just me.

Sideshow Hellboy

Sideshow has listed a new Hellboy "12-Inch Action Figure" with 28 points of articulation.

All yours for $164.99!

Even though I like the looks of it - I would rather have a statue.

Robert: Yeah. Not so much for me either. As much of a raving Hellboy fan as I am and as nicely detailed as this figure will be, it's not worth $164.99 nor would I buy it for less than that. And like Zimm at that price point and 12 inches tall, I think they should have just done a statue.
