Robots feed off of Corpses and other Biomass

A few months ago, I found an article referencing 'zombie ants', and now I found one on "the Energetically Autonomous Tactical Robot (EATR)™" that survive off of biomass material (including corpses.)

Why does this entire article make me think of 'Zombie Robots'?

Take a look here...

Okay, okay. Tomorrow, I will get back to more of our geek articles.

Bowen Annoucement

Bowen had problems with another limited run statue, and they state the following:

"We use several factories for our production, but we've noticed a marked decline in quality from this particular manufacturer. They will not be used for future productions."

I wonder if this was the same factory that worked on the Northstar and Aurora busts, as they really are of some of the poorest quality busts that I have seen.

Goes to show - There are different qualities of production, and Bowen is constantly working to maintain his.

Robert: Now if they could just do the same thing with their paint jobs.

Teen Titans Recruitment Drive

Ever since the relaunch of the Teen Titans in the 80s, I have been a Teen Titans fan. While the X-Men have driven me away with far too much baggage, history, and complex backgrounds, the Titans have managed a rather consistent view of the characters and how being a hero effects their lives.

The Titans continually maintain that "family" feel as the "Teen Titans" and "Titans" focus on character relations, and instead of spreading one or two characters across all of the Titan books or DC Universe - the characters tend to focus on one part of the family or the other.

In some aspects, the excitement of this recruitment drive is to see what new characters will become permanent members of the "Teen" Titan family - something I don't see the (older) Titans being able to do anymore. (However, they are having enough problems with their own family member - Jericho.)

I think I will probably pick this up - just to see what is going on.

New from Warren Ellis' Bad Signal

IGNITION CITY is now being staged for release in the first half of 2009. Details to follow.

Don't know what Ignition City is? Click here and here.

For those who don't want to read it themselves or Warren Ellis' site is justifiably blocked at work or school, Ignition City is a cross between Deadwood and Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers, and every other space hero. It's where the space heroes go to die/retire and miss the "good ole days".

Not getting Warren Ellis' Bad Signal? You should be. Click here.

If you were you'd know John Cassaday is hard at work on Planetary #27, which will hopefully be out early next year.

Update 8:36 pm: Zimm asks "So - what is about?"

My answer: I don't really know for sure yet. But I liked Deadwood and Planetary is one of my all time favorite comics. Seems like an idea that's worth trying for a few issues at least.

Update 11/3/2008 5:54 pm: Another post on WarrenEllis.com about Ignition City. It shows pictures some of the rayguns. The Bowman character referenced is a Flash Gordon analogue.

Comics are getting more expensive again

Marvel is raising the price of a single issue from $2.99 to $3.99. And when Marvel raises prices, DC is never far behind.

What does this mean? Cancellations for one thing. Sales figures will drop on most titles, causing many borderline titles to get the axe.
